Two helpless males were noticed lying uncomfortably on their backs in tundra of Nadymsky district at the Yamal peninsula.
The healthy-looking animals got antlers locked while battling for females as mating season started several days ago.

When freed, the reindeer try to jump up and run away, but collapse on the ground unable to walk after several motionless hours.
Both animals were reported to be doing well after the rescue.
Mating period for reindeer lasts from late September till early November.
Males fight for access to females by locking antlers and trying to push each other away.
The strongest male collects as many as 20 females.
